I'm still obsessing over the creativity of these newlyweds who pulled off a fantastic wedding day in the midst of a global pandemic. Dana + Ryan's wedding date of May 30th was right at the end of the extended stay-at-home order here in IL. So the uncertainty of, "will it be extended? will it be over? what's the max amount of people that can gather?" really made their planning hit the hectic end of the spectrum. They wanted to keep their original wedding date, and ended up having the sweetest intimate backyard wedding with a drive-by reception and poolside fam dinner that was truly one of a kind and I just want to shoot it over and over.
I think everyone said it 100 times that day, but Dana was the most laid back and chill bride ever. I was so impressed with how flawlessly everything turned out, like it had been the original plans all along. It was a day of laughs, sweet tears, even sweeter words, and no shortness of fun. I believe the decided upon word was whimsical, (lol!) but the girls stunned in their mix of boho/grecian goddess vibe dresses with the guys in classic black amongst all the green. The drive-by reception was such a neat idea for all those who were originally supposed to be celebrating with them to personally give their congrats. The day finished out with a small backyard dinner, sunset photos, cake, speeches and dancing. It was casual enough to feel like a relaxing weekend bbq but mixed with traditional festivities made it feel super special for the perfect wedding day.
Keep these micro weddings coming guys, because I'm loving it! Here's a few faves of mine from their day:
